Wilda Mae Sprenger, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Cape Girardeau to Glenn and Josie Turner Smith.

She and Harold L. Sprenger were married April 26, 1947, in Osceola, Arkansas. He passed away Oct. 24, 1992.

She graduated from Steimle Business College and operated Fairview Nursing Home for 15 years. She later was a secretary for Moon Distributing and the old Saint Francis Hospital.

She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for more than 25 years as well as a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 3838 Auxiliary, serving as a past president.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Julie A. Keys of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Melissa J. Sprenger of Cape Girardeau and Jessica L. Lema of Scopus, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Sherri Sprenger, Cassie Keys, Chelsea Brown, Dylan Keys, Michael Cooper, Morgan Keys, Kinzie Lema and Payden Lema; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her only son, Michael S. Sprenger, who passed away on Feb. 19, 2011; and two brothers, Glenn and Harold Smith.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

Funeral to follow at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
