Wilbur "Shine" Pardue, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 23, 2001, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1918, at Orrick, Mo., son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Ella Derstler Pardue. He and Janet Bowers were married March 1, 1969, in Omaha, Neb.
Pardue was a riverboat captain 50 years. He had lived in Cape Girardeau 32 years, and was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of a Masonic lodge in Nebraska.
He served in the U.S. Navy from April 3, 1944 to Dec. 28, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Don and Will Pardue of Cape Girardeau, Wayne Pardue of Kalama, Wash., Dave Pardue of Casper, Wyo.; three daughters, Patricia Hodge of Cape Girardeau, Janet Kjeldgaard of Tekamah, Neb., Nancy Coultas of Northfield, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
There is no visitation.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Cape County Memorial Park. The Rev. Steve Francis will officiate.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
