Wilbert Sides

Wilbert Edwin Sides, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021. He was the son of the late Wilbert and Lydia Funk Sides.

Wilbert and Gloria Benson were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas, and she passed away on March 3, 2005.

Wilbert was a avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of the Teamsters 547 and St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his sons Gary (Bill) Sides of Cape Girardeau, Darrell (Jane) Sides of Ontario, Canada, Donny (Echo) Sides of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Earl Sides of Jackson, Don (Ruthann) Sides of Jackson, Paul (Linda) Sides of Jackson; sisters, Erma Pierce of North City, Illinois, Dorothy Gurley of Paducah, Kentucky, Betty Boyers of Cape Girardeau, Irene Crites of Memphis, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gloria, two sons, Terry and Randy Sides, one stepbrother, Kenneth Ray Moore, one brother, Herbert Sides and one sister Lucille White

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Sprigg Street in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will follow visitation at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to the Saxony Lutheran High School and the St. Andrew Building Fund.
