JACKSON -- Wilbert "Bill" Nagel, 75, of Jackson, died Tuesday, May 12, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1917, at Jackson, son of Paul and Ida Koechig Nagel. He and the former Virginia Mason were married March 15, 1942, at Benton.

Nagel had worked for Nothdurft Construction many years, and later worked at New McKendree United Methodist Church, retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 358th Infantry Division in Europe.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Nagel of Chesterfield, Mike and Jeff Nagel of Jackson; a daughter, Karen Price of Jackson; six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Eatherton will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. An American Legion service will be held at 7:30.
