THEBES, Ill. -- Wesley Woodruff Sr. of Thebes passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 23, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Burness "Burnie" and Helen (Babcock) Woodruff. He married Peggy Simmons on May 16, 1955.
Wesley Woodruff was a member of First Assembly of God in Scott City, where he taught adult Sunday-school class.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Woodruff; three daughters, Connie Butcher of Thebes, Cynthia (Matthew) Chubboy of Oakville, Missouri, and Larinda (Russell) Garrison of Tamms, Illinois; a son, Wesley Earl Woodruff of Thebes; a brother, Larry (Delila) Woodruff of Greenfield, Indiana; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marlin Rex and Lynn Lester Woodruff.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service for Wesley Woodruff Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Morse and Wesley's grandson, Jack Oliver, officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
