CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Wendell "Mick" Glency, 76, of Chaffee passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 8, 1937, in Chaffee, to the late Lawrence Joseph and Jessie Rozina Bailey Glency. He married Ruth Anne Sullivan on Nov. 30, 1959.
Mick was a retired forklift operator with Essex Cable Co. in Sikeston, Mo. He was a lifetime member of Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810, a tribe member of United Blackfoot Nation, and his Indian name was Mick "Talking Horse" Glency. Ruth and Mick enjoyed camping at Arrowhead Campground, and he and his dog, Tippy, loved to play in the yard.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Anne of Chaffee; two sons, Mitchell (Lisa) Glency of Cape Girardeau and Sam (Tonya) Glency of Chaffee; two daughters, Gayliene Glency and Brenda (Scott) Dannenmueller of Chaffee; two sisters, Lavern Simpson of Chaffee and Velma Hester of Delta; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. An Elks service will be at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. The Rev. Robert Lewis will officiate, assisted by nephews the Rev. Justin Sullivan and Michael Hester. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
