Weldon L. Davis, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Mill Creek, Mo., to Grover and Ethel Burnell Davis. He married Violet L. Bryant on Aug. 16, 1942, in Jackson.

He was a farmer, served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; a son and daughter-in-law, Weldon Jr. and Debra Davis of Anna, Ill.; two daughters and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Minnis of Sevierville, Tenn., and Shelby Hediger of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Shawn Redman, Warren Masters, Erick Turner and Crystal Davis; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Weldon Redman; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Milford and Wilma Jean Davis, Paul and Wilma Davis and DeWayne and Lee Davis, all of Lake of Egypt, and Richard and Shirley Davis of Cape Girardeau; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Joan Bryant of Fairfield, Mont., and Betty and John Edwards of Peoria, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Cooper; a sister, Evelyn Lyerla; and three brothers, Clifford, Eugene and Marion Davis.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of the Anna Veterans of Foreign Wars.
