Wayne Wright

THEBES, Ill. -- Wayne F. "Dutch" Wright, 73, of Thebes died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, in Alexander County.

He was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Ware, Ill., son of Glenn Edward and Helen Winn Wright. He and Shirley Walker were married in 1955 in Corinth, Miss. She died Sept. 15, 2002.

Wright was a heavy equipment operator 35 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 318.

Survivors include a daughter, Shavonna Shipley of Jonesboro; a son, David "Catfish" Wright of Thebes; a brother, Glenn "Hunk" Wright of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Helen "Sis" Oxford of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.; two grandsons; a stepgranddaughter; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from noon until service time today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Oxford officiating. Private interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery at a later date.
