MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Wayne T. Vines, 80, of Mound City died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 22, 1918, at Dongola, son of Henry Vines and Bertha Beggs Vines. Vines was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He retired as a yard master for the Illinois Central Railroad.
Vines was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Mounds City and the Mounds VFW post.
He is survived by his wife, Treva Vines of Mound City; a daughter, Monica Smith of Cairo; two sons, Brent Vines of Winterhaven, Fla., and Charles Wayne Vines of Mulberry, Fla.; a sister, Blanche Pennebaker of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Warren Vines of Huntington, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City. Parish prayers will be recited in the Barkett Chapel at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Marys Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery at Mounds.
