Wayne Arthur Neumeyer, 65, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon, Mo., after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 12, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Lawrence Arthur and Olga Sander Neumeyer. Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jean Jones Neumeyer.
Wayne was a graduate of Kennett High School in 1962 and Missouri Southern State University in 1985.
At the height of his career, he worked as a credit manager with the Central United States Dairy and Poultry Division of Swift and Co. in Chicago. He became a skilled photographer while living in Joplin.
Survivors include a daughter, Cassie Jurasits and husband Jerry of Lorton, Va.; grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas and Andrew Jurasits, all of Lorton; a sister, Janet Ward and husband Mike of Camdenton, Mo.; a nephew, Christopher Ward and wife Lindy and their daughter Shelby Jo of Kensington, N.H.; a niece, Kathryn Ward of Columbia, Mo.; and his wife from 1962-1972, Jerry Faith Walker Neumeyer.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville, with the Rev. James Sanderson officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
