Watson Hester

Watson H. Hester, 70, of Delta passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the family home.

He was born June 8, 1942, in Delta to the late Watson Russell and Immogene Sanford Hester.

Watson married Velma Glency Oct. 6, 1967, and she survives. He was a member of the Arbor General Baptist Church and the Delta Coffee Shop. He claimed that he held the record for the number of visits to the coffee shop in one day. He was a retired Heavy Equipment operator for Union Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis. He worked for many contract companies.

Survivors include his wife, Velma; one son, Michael (Ruth-Ann) Hester of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Stacey (Tony) Birk of Delta; one brother, David (Nancy) Hester of Delta; two sisters, Nancy Stoffregan and Ruth Ann (Joe) Crader, both of Delta; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea Birk, Taylor Birk, Bailey Birk, Christian Hester, Michaela Hester, Jessica Hester, Theresa Mier, Paul Mier, Lanson Cox and Bryce Cox.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo.

The funeral service will at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the chapel, with Rev. Kermit Patton officiating. Burial will be in Kenyon Cemetery near Delta.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Arbor General Baptist Church.
