DONGOLA, Ill. -- Warren H. Dale, 87, of Dongola died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Balcom, Ill., son of William A. and Alice C. Settlemoir Dale. He and Mary Hankla were married April 11, 1941, at Marble Hill, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Perry of Murphysboro, Ill., Vicki Tripp of Buncombe, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and seven brothers.
Dale served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a charter member and past commander of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill., and Dongola American Legion. Dale was also a member of Carpenters Local 638 in Marion, Dongola Masonic Lodge and Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis, Ill.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. LaRue Parr officiating. Burial will be in Leyerle Cemetery near Dongola with full military honors by VFW Post 3455.
