Wanda Jean Nicolaides, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Mounds, Ill., to Forrest and Ethel Nixon. She married Paul B. Nicolaides Oct. 10, 1946. He preceded her in death April 4, 1992.
Jean was raised on Nixon Farm in Mounds. After high school she joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
She worked many years in the biology office at Illinois State University in Normal. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Daniel Paul (Susan) Nicolaides of Green Valley, Ariz., and Martha Jean Brown of Cape Girardeau; a grandchild, Jeremy Paul (April) Nicolaides of Arlington, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Evan Nicolaides; many nieces and nephews, including Ellie Nixon of Mounds and Charlotte Shearer of Cape Girardeau; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Wallace of Sarasota, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two older brothers, Jay and Kenneth.
There will be no service.
