EAST PRAIRIE -- Wanda Lee Moreland, 63, of Bertrand Retirement Home, formerly of East Prairie, died Monday, Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. in the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born May 6, 1927 in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of the late John and Martha Meens Shaffer. She lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was of the Baptist faith.
In 1947, she married Shelton Moreland, who preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1983.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include eight sons, Robert Moreland, address unknown, Jimmy Moreland, East Prairie, Steve Moreland, Louisiana, Ronnie Moreland, Anniston, Ralph Moreland, Davenport, Fla., Carl Moreland and Terry Moreland, both of Sikeston, and Johnny Moreland, Columbus, Ky.;
Five daughters, Lillie Hutson, Charleston, Pat Williams, Wickliffe, Ky., Brenda Gross, Bertrand, and Delores Moreland and Joyce Worley, both of Sikeston; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Farquhar, pastor of the Freewill Baptist Church of East Prairie, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the funeral home.
