WANDA HELMS

Wanda L. Helms, 71, of Creve Coeur, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Anna, Ill., daughter of Roy S. and Alice Smith Vancil. She and Lee Helms were married Jan. 23, 1954, in Benton, Ill.

Helms was a cashier for many years at Kroger in East Peoria, Ill., and Peoria, Ill., and at Giefman's in Peoria.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Jim Jerolds of Dongola, Ill.; one daughter, Mary Hoge of Creve Coeur; two sisters, Vesta Kerr of Anna and Bernice Hileman of Columbia; one brother, Orval Vancil of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Private funeral took place Friday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. David Coyle officiated, with burial in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
