VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Wanda H. Ervin, 83, of Villa Ridge, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. She was born May 22, 1929, in Olmsted, Ill., to the late Everett and Edna Calvin Bankson. She married Arthur S. Ervin, Jr., who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2000.
Mrs. Ervin attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, and was a retired first-grade teacher with the Century School District in Ullin, Ill. She was a lifelong member of the Caledonia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin grandsons, Noah and Robert Giltner, two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Ervin is survived by three daughters, Marla (David) Hardesty, of Cape Girardeau, Alyce (Bruce) Giltner, of Villa Ridge, and Colleen Buckles, of Jackson; a sister, Dawn Lackey, of Anna, Ill.; one brother, George Bankson, of Mounds, Ill.; five grandchildren, Autum Simmons, Neal Giltner, Trae Buckles, Stephen Buckles and Alysha Giltner; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation is at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, Ill., where friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery at Pulaski, Ill.
