Graveside service for Walton William Brown Jr. of Herrin, Ill., was held Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. Randolph Tochtrop officiated.
Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home at Herrin was in charge of arrangements.
Brown, 71, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at Herrin Hospital.
He was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of Walton William and Inez Spalding Brown. He and Edna Choun were married Feb. 8, 1947, in Bridgeport, Conn.
Brown formerly owned Herrin Pastry Shop, and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include five sons, Walton Brown Jr. of Bidwell, Ohio, David Brown of Bicknell, Ind., Gregory Brown of Makanda, Ill., Christopher Brown of Johnston City, Ill., Bruce Brown of Thompsonville, Ill.; a daughter, Kathy Thomas of Delaware, Okla.; three brothers, Robert, Gerald and Larry Brown, all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Doris Roberts of Bonne Terre; five granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and a sister.
