Walter W. Young, 88, of Jackson died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born April 5, 1919, in Portageville, Mo., son of William and Ollie Knight Young. He and Mildred Morris were married May 15, 1942, in Kennett, Mo. She died Dec. 30, 2003.
Young was a grocery store manager in Wardell, Mo., and then owner and operator of an IGA Foodliner in Sikeston, Mo., six years. In 1962 he became a sales representative with National Life Insurance Co., and became sales staff manager in 1968 and moved to Cape Girardeau. He retired in 1981, then began work in real estate sales with Heartland Realty.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Joseph Goninan of Memphis, Tenn., Jayne and Kevin Keller of Jackson; four grandchildren, Gregory Y. Goninan, Christopher P. (Jessie) Goninan, Danielle M. Keller, Nicholas R. Keller; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dr. Buck Morton officiating. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.
