GORDONVILLE -- Funeral service for Walter W. Hanschen of Gordonville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Charles Minetree will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today, and from 8:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

Hanschen, 74 years old, died Monday, Jan. 14, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 2, 1916, at Gordonville, son of Martin P. and Clara Eggers Hanschen. He and the former Jessie Quade were married March 14, 1945, at Gordonville.

Hanschen was a body repairman at Brennecke Chevrolet more than 35 years, retiring in 1978.

He was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on the finance committee eight years, was on the dartball team, and had been president and treasurer of its Men's Club. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 at Jackson.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Darrell Hanschen of Jackson, Steven Hanschen of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Vickie Neumeyer of Gordonville; two brothers, Edward and Pete Hanschen of Gordonville; three sisters, Sarah Borchelt of Cape, Minnie Whitler and Margaret Williams of Gordonville, and five grandchildren.
