FARRAR, Mo. -- Walter E. Verseman, 99, of Farrar died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo. He was born March 17, 1902, at Farrar, son of Henry and Emma Koenig Verseman. He and Ester Lorenz were married April 29, 1928. She died March 29, 1987...

FARRAR, Mo. -- Walter E. Verseman, 99, of Farrar died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo.

He was born March 17, 1902, at Farrar, son of Henry and Emma Koenig Verseman. He and Ester Lorenz were married April 29, 1928. She died March 29, 1987.

Verseman was a retired farmer. He lived on the family farm until moving to the nursing home in 1998. He was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Verseman of Perryville, Dr. Dennis Verseman of Canton, Mich., Alan Verseman of Farrar; two daughters, Betty Roth and Charlotte Krauss of Perryville; a sister, Olga Bock of Frohna, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, a granddaughter, six brothers, and seven sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4-9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30-9:15 a.m.

Funeral will be held at Salem Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
