Walter S. "Dougan" Ramey, 71, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1993, at Richmond.
He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, the son of John Knott and Cressie Chambers Ramey.
Ramey attended schools in Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri State University. He was a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames.
An educator first in Des Moines, Iowa, then Pontiac, Ill., and Richmond, Ramey was retired assistant professor emeritus of Virginia Commonwealth University at Richmond.
He was a life member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, National Education Association and Phi Delta Kappa. He also was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie Belle Ramey; daughters, Chryle Ann Dutcher, Richmond, Georgia Lee Cylke, Arlington, Va., and Patricia Louise Skaperdas, Richmond; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call tonight from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, in Richmond.
Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Reveille United Methodist Church in Richmond. Burial will be in Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield County, Va.
