MALDEN -- Walter Ray, 90, of Malden died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Malden Nursing Center.
He was born April 24, 1909, at Sikeston, son of Jasper and Dalia Hardwood Ray. He and Nora Moore were married Jan. 25, 1929, at Parma. She died June 12, 1983.
Ray lived in St. Louis most of his life, and in Malden the past three years. He retired from Mississippi Glass Co. of St. Louis. He was a member of Gateway Temple.
Survivors include two sons, Walter Ray Jr. of Fenton, Stan Ray of St. Louis; four daughters, Mallie Bartlett of Parma, Nonia Mills of Alton, Beaution Wright of Florissant, and Marilyn Loness of Festus.
Also surviving are four sisters, Josie Holland of Peoria, Ill., Emma Cooper of Kelso, Maxine Owens of Godfrey, Ill., Bonnie Grounds of Brighton, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Cecil Keller and the Rev. C.L. Morrison officiating. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.
