SCOTT CITY -- Walter Vincent Porter, 83, of Scott City died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 25, 1915, in Sedalia, son of Clyde Carlyle and Cevia Christina Zinn Porter. He and Virginia Firestone were married Feb. 16, 1944, in Osceola, Ark. She died July 31, 1998.
He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force 20 years, retiring in 1961. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Porter was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta, and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, Lary Porter of Grove Hill, Ala.; two daughters, Judy MacNutt of O'Fallon, Ill., Shirley Porter of Scott City; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with graveside rites by the VFW.
