Walter L. Lessley, 68, of Princeville, Ill., formerly of Millersville, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe, Ill.
He was born Sept. 15, 1939, at Delta, son of Dale and Ruby Allen Lessley. He and Glenda Austin were married Aug. 30, 1970, in Jackson.
Lessley served in the U.S. Army.
Prior to moving to Princeville in 1971, he worked as a mechanic at Hanners Brothers in Patton, Mo. He retired as a machinist at Givens Machine Shop in Princeville in 2006 and had recently worked at Casey Doubet Machine Shop in Williamsfield, Ill.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sue Masters of Pawnee, Ill.; a stepson, Joe Austin of Fort Myers, Fla.; a friend, Thella Begner of Princeville; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-stepgrandson.
Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville was in charge of arrangements in Princeville.
Visitation will be held from noon to service time Sunday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
