WILSON CITY -- Walter Lane Sr., 74, of Wilson City, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1992, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
He was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Midway, Ala., son of Leondas and Clara Hall Lane. He and Laura Dean were married May 9, 1942. She died Jan. 8, 1988.
Lane was a retired farmer. He was a member of Sanders Chapel AME Church at Wyatt more than 57 years, and had served on the Steward and Trustee Boards.
Survivors include four sons, Walter Lane Jr. of Fayette, Joe Lane of Wilson City, David and Duneall Lane of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Carolyn Robinson of St. Louis, Annie Lane of Cape Girardeau, Patricia Fisher of Bloomington, Ill.; two sisters, Hattie Kimble of Charleston, Inona Wesley Howard of Wilson City; two brothers, Lonzie and Lommie Lane of Wilson City; 11 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sanders Chapel, with the Rev. T.L. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday at Hodge Funeral Home in Cairo, Ill., from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and then at Sanders Chapel from 5-8 p.m.
