Walter "Jack" Jackson, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

He was born July 20, 1932, in St. Louis, son of James Wilford and Nellie Sprous Jackson. He and Mary McFall were married March 6, 1959, in St. Louis.

Jackson served in the U.S. Army.

He lived in St. Louis until moving to Dexter, Mo., in 1968, and has lived in Cape Girardeau the past 15 years.

While in St. Louis he had worked in a steel factory. He was also a counselor at a detox center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Jackson Jr. and Glenn Jackson of Dexter; a daughter, Trish Jackson of Dexter; a sister, Etta Calhoon of Stillwater, Okla.; six granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister and two half brothers.

There will be no visitation or service.

Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
