Walter Carl Fiehler, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at The Lutheran Home. He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Potter, Neb., to Carl and Nora Lueders Fiehler. He and LaVerne Marie Schamburg were married Oct. 10, 1948, at Perryville, Mo. She preceded him in death June 9, 2013...

Walter Carl Fiehler, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at The Lutheran Home.

He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Potter, Neb., to Carl and Nora Lueders Fiehler.

He and LaVerne Marie Schamburg were married Oct. 10, 1948, at Perryville, Mo. She preceded him in death June 9, 2013.

Walter was a graduate of Altenburg High School. He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a salesman for Horton Sales.

He was a Charter Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, the church's men's club and Lutheran Laymen's League. He was in the church dartball league, was an avid fisherman and golfer and had a hole-in-one July 2, 2002, at the Bootheel Golf Club in Sikeston, Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Fiehler (Daphna) of Cape Girardeau and Thomas Fiehler (Barbara) of Cincinnati; two daughters, Linda Koch (Douglas) and Julie Fiehler of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Herbert Fiehler of St. Charles, Mo., and Norman Fiehler of Layton, Utah; one sister, Leora Huddleston of St. Charles; seven grandchildren, Andrew Fiehler, Bradley Fiehler, Shelly McCoy, Todd Koch, Misty Koch-Dunning, Eric Fiehler and Eryn Brockman; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, Leonard and Ralph Fiehler.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Full military rites will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
