SIKESTON, Mo. -- Walter Lee Farmer, 72, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Newton County, Ark., son of Simon and Tilda Smith Farmer. He and Violet Abernathy were married Nov. 12, 1954, at Benton, Mo.
Farmer was employed as a sanitation worker at Bunny Bread Co. 27 years and worked at Leonard's Shell Station 17 years.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jimmy and Roy Farmer of Sikeston, David Farmer of Bertrand, Mo.; two daughters, Elizabeth Davis of Benton, BeLinda Mays of Sikeston; a brother, William Farmer of Mineral Wells, Texas; a sister, Geneva Freeman of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Randy Eskew and Dennis Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, with full military rites by Missouri Military Honors Program.
