Wade Cyril Wurtz, 82, of Missouri Veterans Home, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at the facility.
He was born Sept. 13, 1914, in St. Louis, son of Sidney and Flora Kinney Wurtz. He and Alice L. Mueller were married April 5, 1947, in East St. Louis, Ill.
Wurtz was an industrial engineer with Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Ill., 40 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a volunteer fireman 23 years in Riverdale, Iowa, member of First Presbyterian Church in Iowa, member of American Society Metals, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla. Wurtz served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Wurtz had lived at the Veterans Home since May 1995.
Survivors include his wife of Creve Coeur; a son. Stephen Wurtz of Des Peres; two daughters, Julie Currivan of Iowa City, Iowa, Carol Holler of Canton, Ill.; a brother, Dale Wurtz of Belleville, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
