Vivian D. Morris, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Life Care Center.

She was born Aug. 25, 1925, in rural Graham County, Kansas, to Clifford and Gladys Glee Cross Acheson. She married Paul M. Morris on Aug. 24, 1952. He preceded her in death April 8, 1986.

Vivian taught school 40 years. She began her career in a one-room schoolhouse in Kansas, and retired in 1988 from L.J. Schultz School in Cape Girardeau where she taught math. She often helped at the family business, Cape Color World.

She was an active member and elder at Abbey Road Christian Church, where she held many board positions throughout the years. Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent pingpong player.

Survivors include a son, David G. Morris (Kathryn L.) of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Nita Eichman (Ivan) of Jackson; four grandchildren, Joseph Morris of Naples, Florida, Joshua and Abigail Morris of Cape Girardeau and Zane Eichman of Jackson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five sisters, Lola Stubblefield, Esther Acheson, Twila Criswell, Phyllis Lefmann and Alberta Eichman; and a brother, Alvin Acheson.

Family and friends may gather from 4 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Jim Matthews and Rodger Kiepe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Paul Morris to the American Heart Association, in honor of Clifford Acheson to the American Cancer Society, or in honor of all veterans to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
