EAST PRAIRIE -- Vivian Lucille Stanfield Gregory, 84, of the Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston and formerly of East Prairie died Thursday, Dec. 8, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born March 7, 1910, in Wayne County, the daughter of George and Laura Anderson Stanfield.
She married William Ralph Gregory on June 23, 1934 in Corning, Ark. He died on May 21, 1978.
She was active in the Rebekkah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. For many years, she operated a private kindergarten in her home and served as a private tutor. She worked for 10 years as a caseworker with the Mississippi County Family Services. She was a member of several civic groups, including the Mississippi County Child Abuse Council and the East Prairie Business and Professional Women's Club. She also was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include two sons, William Gregory of Bellair Beach, Fla., and Michael Gregory of Eastlake, Ohio; three daughters, Helen Poley of Arnold, Laura Schneider of Warrenton and Martha Brown of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie, with the Rev. Ed Pangburn and the Rev. Martin Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.
