Vivian Ruth Ross Harris, 96, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Southeast Hospital. She was born May 6, 1926, at home near Dexter, Missouri. She was the oldest of seven children born to the late James Summers and Iva Jane Young Ross. She and Ralph Lee Harris Sr. were married Nov. 11, 1945, in Advance, Missouri. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1996...

Vivian Ruth Ross Harris, 96, of Cape Girardeau went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born May 6, 1926, at home near Dexter, Missouri. She was the oldest of seven children born to the late James Summers and Iva Jane Young Ross. She and Ralph Lee Harris Sr. were married Nov. 11, 1945, in Advance, Missouri. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1996.

Vivian was a charter member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Cape Girardeau. She loved the Lord and worshiped Him daily. Vivian and Ralph owned and managed Kentucky Fried Chicken. She also worked for a short time as an interior decorator for Rust and Martin. She loved flower gardening, oil painting, reading, craft work, decorating and cooking. She was a very generous person who loved to cook large feasts for her family. She took joy in caring for everyone, and there wasn't anything she couldn't do.

Survivors include daughter, Lynn (Bill) Suhre of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Dot (Howard) Harkey, Doris Evans and Jean (George) Woods; five grandchildren, Allen (Amy) Hendricks, Angela (Brian) Hubbard, Tyson (Kelly) Suhre, Matt (Kate) Harris and Mike (Rachel) Harris; six great-grandchildren, Addison Suhre, Luciano Hendricks, Oliver Harris, Jewel Harris, Isabella Harris and Roman Harris.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Lee Harris Sr.; daughter, Janice Ruth Hendricks; son, Ralph Lee Harris Jr.; great-grandson, Chase Suhre; brothers, Carl and Harold Ross; and sister, Maxine Carlton.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Mark Anderson and Fred Burgard officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to Lynwood Christian Academy -- Tuition Scholarship in memory of Vivian Harris.
