THEBES, Ill. -- Vivian G. (Bland) Caldwell, age 64, of Thebes died at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Caldwell was born on Bland's Hill in Chilhowie, Va., the daughter of John Verlin and Olga Pauline (Farris) Bland, who both preceded her in death...

THEBES, Ill. -- Vivian G. (Bland) Caldwell, age 64, of Thebes died at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Caldwell was born on Bland's Hill in Chilhowie, Va., the daughter of John Verlin and Olga Pauline (Farris) Bland, who both preceded her in death.

Survivors include, husband, William I. Caldwell of Thebes; one son and daughter-in-law, Zac and Lisa Caldwell of Tamms, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Mark Cooper of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Krystal and Austin Caldwell of Tamms.

She graduated from Chilhowie High School in 1953 and Washington CO. Tech School of Abingdon, Va. She was a retired executive secretary, worked at Brunswick Corp. of Marion, Va., from 1955-1959, and the Barnett National Bank of Jacksonville, Fla., 1959-1961.

She and Bill were married at the Chapel at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla.

She moved from Chilhowie, Va., to Thebes in 1982. She worked for Joe McKeon of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance of Cape; for the Cape Jaycees, for minister Wes Wright of Mount Auburn Christian Church; and for Caldwell Signs of Thebes.

She was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church of Cape Girardeau, past matron of Caledonia Chapter 587 Eastern Star of Pulaski, Ill.; past secretary of Thebes Historical Society and Thebes Women's Club and a member of the Pulaski-Alexander Home Extension Unit.

Funeral services for Vivian Caldwell will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with Minister Wes Wright officiating. She will be buried in the Caldwell family plot in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.

Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by Caledonia Chapter 587 O.E.S.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
