THEBES, Ill. -- Virtus McKee Cox, 82, of Thebes died Monday, June 26, 2006, at her home.
She was born Nov. 24, 1923, at Thebes, daughter of the late Sam and Minnie Story. She married Burnest Cox, who died in 1996.
Mrs. Cox was a member of Alexander Freewill Baptist Church near Olive Branch, Ill.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Sandra McKee of Hartford, Ill., Terry Lynn and Kim McKee of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Sissy McKee and Axle Christopher of Cape Girardeau; a stepson and wife, Bobby and Martha Cox of Dyersburg, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry McKee, Jerry and Donna McKee; and a grandson, Larry Don McKee.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and Thursday after 9:30 a.m. at Alexander Freewill Baptist Church near Olive Branch.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Earnest Brown officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
