ROCKVIEW, Mo. -- Virginia L. Westrich Seyer of Rockview departed this life Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at her home to be with her loving husband.
She was born in Chaffee, Missouri, Jan. 2, 1932, to the late Gregory and Josephine Glency Westrich.
Virginia graduated from eighth grade at St. Ambrose Catholic School. She worked at the Florsheim Shoe factory in Chaffee until she married the love of her life, Marcus J. Seyer, on Oct. 21, 1950. He preceded her in death Dec. 15, 2021. The loving couple was blessed with six children: Patricia Little, Steve Seyer, Linda (Jerry) Lee, Richard (Julie) Seyer and Rodger (Shellie) Seyer, all of Chaffee, and Tim (Janel) Seyer of Pacifica, California.
After their children moved away from home, Virginia went to work at HWI/Do It Best in Cape Girardeau. She retired from there in 1986.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. She was a dedicated housewife, loving mother and grandmother.
Virginia is survived by her children. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren. She loved to watch her grandkids play sports -- softball, baseball, football and basketball -- and many other activities they were involved in. She was always there to cheer them on.
Besides her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Compas and Imogene Gouge, and a great-stepgrandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee with a prayer service at 4 Tuesday evening.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
