ORAN -- Virginia P. Segers, 85, of Oran died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Lexington, Miss., the daughter of Josepus and Floia Pullen. She married Willie Walter Segers on July 15, 1939. He died Jan. 5, 1996.
She was the church mother of Christ Sanctuary Church of God in Christ and the adult Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by three daughters, Ora S. Bell and Mary M. Sisson of Oran, and Leisa Blissett Segers of Sikeston; two sons, William W. Segers Jr. of St. Louis and Floyd D. Segers of Oran; two foster children, Lloyd A. Turner of California and Zenora Stevens of Sikeston; three brothers, Arne Pullen, Bob Pullen and Everst Pullen, all of Chicago; two sisters, Georgia Orr of Chicago and Bertha Luster of Bell City; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was the foster parent of nearly 60 children for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two sons and three brothers.
The wake will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Sanctuary in Bell City.
Visitation will be at noon Sunday at the church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.
