Virginia Seabaugh

Virginia A. Seabaugh, 94, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 18, 1911, at Fisk, Mo., daughter of Fred and Bertha Sides Abernathy. She and Burton Seabaugh were married Feb. 8, 1930, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away April 8, 1989.

Virginia founded the former Jackson Beauty School in 1957. She owned and operated the business several years before selling it to June Platt.

She and Burton were active in the former Hilltoppers Square Dance Club, and Virginia was an avid bridge player. Having moved to Cape Girardeau in 1997, Virginia became a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a former member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Anna Lee Howard of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy Paar and husband Bus of Cape Girardeau and Gilbertsville, Ky.; two sisters, Betty Collischonn and husband Phil of Forestville, Calif., Norma Thompson of Lake Oswego, Ore.; five grandchildren, Steve Paar and wife Karen, Lynn Dee Thomas and husband Todd, Jon Paar and wife Kathy, Melody Mathes and husband Steve, Mark Howard and wife Michelle; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and an infant great-grandson.

Friends may call after 12 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
