PUXICO, Mo. -- Virginia Proffer, 82, of Puxico died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Three Rivers Medical Center South Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo. PUXICO, Mo. -- Virginia Proffer, 82, of Puxico died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Three Rivers Medical Center South Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

She was born July 7, 1918, at Millersville, Mo., daughter of William and Maggie Mae Welker Hutson. She and Wesley Proffer were married March 24, 1945, in Jackson, Mo.

Proffer lived in the Puxico area all her life. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church in Millersville.

Survivors include her husband; and a brother, Raymond Hutson of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 6 p.m.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wiley McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
