CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Virginia Lee Proffer, 90, of Chaffee passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee.
She was born in Chaffee on Feb. 26, 1926, to the late Martin and Regina Ourth Kinder.
She married Robert Proffer on Sept. 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death Dec. 21, 1977.
Virginia retired as a tacker for Buckstein Pants Factory in Chaffee and then worked at Leeada's department store in Chaffee.
She attended the Church of God in Chaffee.
Survivors include two sons, Joe (Anna) Kinder of Delta and Franklin (Theresa) Proffer of Sikeston, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Alvey Surface officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery.
