OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Virginia Pecord, 93, of Olive Branch died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Miller City, Illinois, to John A. and Zada B. Smithey Ronnebeck. She married Milton A. Pecord on Dec. 21, 1937.
Virginia was a beautician and drove a feeder bus for schoolchildren in the Dogtooth Bend area. She was a Girl Scout leader in earlier years and was a member of Lake Milligan Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school many years and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include her husband of 77 years, Milton A. Pecord of Olive Branch; two daughters, Deanna (Kenneth) Hill and Helen (Bobby) Jones of Olive Branch; five grandchildren, Mark (Geinger) Hill, Matt (Kayla) Jones, Amanda (Frank) Pace, Ashley (Nick) Swoboda and Nathan Jones; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ethan Hill, Breonna and Connor Pace; two sisters, Doris Dickerson of Jackson and Ida Thomas of Cairo, Illinois; and a brother, John Ronnebeck of Cairo. She was known as Aunt Sissy to all her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kent Hill; and a sister, Helen Cooper.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
