BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Virginia Lee (Jungers) Payne, 92, of Blue Springs passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Rosewood Skilled Nursing Center in Independence, Missouri.
Virginia was born June 13, 1925, in Cape Girardeau to Beatrice Gregory and August Jungers.
She was an exceptional artist and an accomplished, self-taught seamstress, creating her own designs from the young age of 9. Her sewing skills led to a lifelong career as an alterations specialist.
Virginia married the late J.C. Payne on Nov. 9, 1942, and they were blessed with 63 years together.
She is a longtime member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. After moving to Blue Springs, she was a member of Plaza Heights Baptist Church and most recently Blue Springs First Baptist Church. She found happiness in life focusing on the important things: faith, family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Carolyn (Clarence "Bruno") Brant of Blue Springs, Robert (Jan) Payne of Springfield, Missouri, and John (Jackie) Payne of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Tami, Jared, Jason, Jill, J.T. and Jakob; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memorial Park.
