Virginia Altha Osburn, 87, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Marion, Ill., daughter of Charles Oscar and Jessie Owdum Howard.

Osburn had been a telephone operator. She was a former hospital volunteer and worthy matron in Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Jesseleen Vivona of Rancho Murieta, Calif.; three sisters, Ella Brewer of Marion, Dana Irwin of Perkins, Mo., Bonnie Lennington of Jackson; two brothers, Charles and Jackie Howard of Warsaw, Mo.; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. The Rev. Luther Rhodes will officiate.

Shadow Mountain Mortuary in Phoenix handled the arrangements.
