SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Virginia Irene McGahey of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Addison will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.

McGahey, 82, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1918, in New Madrid, daughter of Louie Carl and Hazel Elizabeth Chapel Shy. She and Hazel "Mac" McGahey were married Nov. 26, 1932, at New Madrid.

McGahey was a member of Tanner Street Church of God and an honorary member of Women of the Church of God.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Charlotte Johnson of Sikeston; two sisters, Louise Barnett of Waynesboro, Tenn., Patsy Graviett of Morley; a brother, Jerry Shy of Sikeston; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother.
