CAIRO, Ill. -- Virginia Long, 84, of Cairo died Sunday, Sept. 8, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born May 26, 1912, the daughter of Holly and Emma Rosier Marchildon. Long was a retired deputy county clerk in Alexander County. She served as an election judge for many years. CAIRO, Ill. -- Virginia Long, 84, of Cairo died Sunday, Sept. 8, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 26, 1912, the daughter of Holly and Emma Rosier Marchildon.

Long was a retired deputy county clerk in Alexander County. She served as an election judge for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was an active member of St. Theresa Circle 331 of the Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include one brother, Holly C. Marchildon of Cape Girardeau, and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Thebes City Cemetery.
