Virginia Louise Kitchen, 79, of Chicago died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. She was born July 12, 1930, in Chicago, to John and Eulalia Bergdahl. She and Eugene Kitchen were married Aug. 29, 1964, in Chicago. She was of the Lutheran belief. She had been an assistant program manager with NBC-TV Channel 5 in Chicago. Virginia Louise Kitchen, 79, of Chicago died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago.

She was born July 12, 1930, in Chicago, to John and Eulalia Bergdahl. She and Eugene Kitchen were married Aug. 29, 1964, in Chicago.

She was of the Lutheran belief. She had been an assistant program manager with NBC-TV Channel 5 in Chicago. Virginia received an Emmy Award for her work as a program manager at Channel 5.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Kitchen of Chicago; a son, Jon Kitchen of Cape Girardeau; and a grandchild, Sierra Kitchen of Frankfort, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Cathcart and Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Entombment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to charity of choice.
