JACKSON -- Virginia K. Smith, 64, Jackson Route 4, died Tuesday, July 16, 1991, at her home.
She was born July 26, 1926, at LaBelle, daughter of Roy Lee and Mary Anna Clickner Thrasher. She married Billy H. Smith April 24, 1954. He died Oct. 28, 1974.
Smith graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy in Quincy, Ill., in 1949. She moved to Jackson in 1958 from Robinson, Ill. She operated Cut N' Curl Beauty Salon here from 1961-70, and then purchased the Leemon Grocery Store and operated it from 1971-86. Smith was a member of VFW Auxiliary in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Smith of Puxico, Mark Smith of Jackson Route 4; a brother, Vincent Thrasher of St. Leonard, Md.; two sisters, Betty Barron of Hoopeston, Ill., Erma Detrick of Lewistown; three grandchildren, Travis and Brandon Smith of Puxico, and Sumer Smith of Jackson Route 4.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Eddie Dodson will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
