MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Virginia Myrtle James, 93, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
She was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Knob Lick, Missouri, daughter of Patrick and Flora Marshall Acuff. She and Dale Randolph James were married May 16, 1946. He preceded her in death June 30, 1975.
Virginia retired from the cafeteria at Woodland School. She worked part-time at the Bollinger County Courthouse and later at the Bollinger County Library. She was a member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Yount of Jackson; a son, Michael James of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; four grandchildren, Blake Yount, Courtni Stephens, Michaela Dickens and Patrick James; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. An Eastern Star service will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Marble Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
