Virginia "Ginny" Cayse

Virginia "Ginny" Henderson Cayse, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2014.

She was born April 7, 1924, in Minnith, Missouri, daughter of Ada Boland Henderson and Dewey Henderson. After her mother's death in 1928, she was raised by her father and her second mother, Emilie Henderson.

On May 30, 1947, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Cayse. They were married 55 1/2 years.

Ginny graduated from Ben Blewett High School in St. Louis. She also graduated from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri.

She taught elementary school in St. Louis County before moving to Cape Girardeau. Ginny taught 12 years as a teacher's assistant in remedial math and remedial reading at Washington School. She was also a substitute teacher for many years.

Ginny felt blessed by God all of her life by her family, church and friends.

One of the joys of her life was teaching young adults through the Sunday school of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Ginny taught Sunday school for 42 years at St. John's Baptist Church in St. Ann, Missouri, and First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Since 1993 she has enjoyed the fellowship at Lynwood Baptist Church.

Loving survivors are her daughters and their husbands, Joy and John Pharis of Keller, Texas, Joan and Dave Goehring of Cape Girardeau and Janet and Wayne Harding of Wentzville, Missouri; granddaughters and their husbands, Amy and Jeff Lane of College Station, Texas, Lesley and Bryan Ross of Southlake, Texas, and Lauren Goehring of Cape Girardeau; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Addison Lane, and Ethan Ross; other loving survivors, Jackie (Cayse) and Larry Boyer of Altoona, Iowa, Michele and Bill Blood, Kimberly, Brian, Laura, Olivia and Alex Laube, and Kelsey, Ryan, Trevor and Austin Sage; three sisters, one brother and their spouses, Audrey and Paul Dillard, Edith Heilmann, Claire and Bob Clearwater and Hank and Mabel Henderson.

Ginny also is survived by many relatives and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Wesley Henderson; and a sister, Edna Brannon.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
