Virginia E. Dumey, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of John and Esther Cobble Engelmann. She and Theon Dumey were married Dec. 28, 1946, at Kelso, Mo.
Dumey was a graduate of the former College High School. She had worked in the laundry department at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, William Dumey of Warwick, R.I., Ronald Dumey of Jefferson City, Mo., Stephen Dumey of Jacksonville, N.C., David John Dumey of Gordonville; two daughters, Linda Sue Grothoff of Jefferson City, Mary Bouza of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Lela Rubel of Egypt Mills; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
