Virginia Blumenberg, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Sikeston, Mo., to Ernest and Vielor Atnip Gray. She and Gene Milton Blumenberg were married Jan. 26, 1962, in Cape Girardeau. Virginia attended Blodgett High School. Virginia Blumenberg, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Sikeston, Mo., to Ernest and Vielor Atnip Gray. She and Gene Milton Blumenberg were married Jan. 26, 1962, in Cape Girardeau.

Virginia attended Blodgett High School. She was a member of Cape First where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years. Virginia worked at shoe factories in Cape Girardeau and Advance, Mo., and at Kids Korner Daycare.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gene Blumenberg of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Diana Edwards of Thebes, Ill.; two sisters, Maxine Martin of Festus, Mo., and Patricia Malugen of Fenton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Glenda Henricks, Lila Poter and Lanelle Knight; and a son, Daniel Blumenberg.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Brothers officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gordonville.
